  65. Section 20

  66. One thousand eight hundred and thirty years since the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the flesh ... in the fourth month, and on the sixth day of the month which is called April. 20:1
  67. God ministered unto him [Joseph Smith] by an holy angel, whose countenance was as lightning, and whose garments were pure and white above all other whiteness. 20:6
  68. Those who harden their hearts in unbelief, and reject it [th Book of Mormon], it shall turn to their own condemnation. 20:15
  69. All men must repent and believe on the name of Jesus Christ ... or they cannot be saved. 20:29

  87. Behold, thou [Joseph Smith] wast called and chosen to write the Book of Mormon. 24:1
  88. If they [the churches] receive thee [Joseph Smith] not, I will send upon them a cursing. 24:4
  89. It shall be given thee [Joseph Smith] in the very moment what thou shalt speak and write ... or I will send unto them a cursing. 24:6
  90. In temporal labors thou [Joseph Smith] shalt not have strength, for this is not thy calling. 24:9
  91. Require not miracles, except I shall command you, except casting out devils, healing the sick, and against poisonous serpents, and against deadly poisons ... And these things ye shall not do, except it be required of you by them who desire it. 24:13-14
  92. In whatsoever place ye [Joseph Smith] shall enter, and they receive you not in my name, ye shall leave a cursing. 24:15
  93. Whosoever shall lay their hands upon you by violence, ye shall command to be smitten in my name; and, behold, I will smite them according to your words, in mine own due time. 24:16
  94. Whosoever shall go to law with thee [Joseph Smith] shall be cursed by the law. 24:17
  95. The church shall give unto thee [Joseph Smith] in the very hour what thou needest. 24:18

  97. The office of thy calling shall be for a comfort unto my servant, Joseph Smith, Jun., thy husband 25:5
  98. Continue in the spirit of meekness, and beware of pride. Let thy soul delight in thy husband, and the glory which shall come upon him ... except thou do this, where I am you cannot come25:14-15

  104. This is wisdom in me [Jesus] ... the hour cometh that I will drink of the fruit of the vine with you ... and with Moroni ... Elias ... John the son of Zacharias ... Elijah ... Joseph and Jacob, and Isaac ... Michael, or Adam ... Peter, and James, and John ... And also with all those whom my Father hath given me out of the world. 27:5-14

  106. No one shall be appointed to receive commandments and revelations in this church excepting my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., for he receiveth them even as Moses. 28:2
  107. No man knoweth where the city Zion shall be built, but ... it shall be on the borders by the Lamanites. 28:9
  108. take thy brother, Hiram Page, between him and thee alone, and tell him that those things which he hath written from that stone are not of me and that Satan deceiveth him. 28:11

  112. Soon ... they that do wickedly shall be as stubble; and I will burn them up. 29:9
  113. I will reveal myself ... and dwell in righteousness with men on earth a thousand years. 29:11
  114. A trump shall sound ... and all the earth shall quake, and they shall ccome forth - yea, even the dead. 29:13
  115. Before this great day shall come the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall be turned into blood, and the stars shall fall from heaven ... And there shall be weeping and wailing. 29:14-15
  116. I the Lord God will send forth flies ... which shall ... eat their flesh, and shall cause maggots to come in upon them. 29:18
  117. Their tongues ... and their flesh shall fall from off their bones, and their eyes from their sockets ... And ... the beasts of the forest and the fowls of the air shall devour them. 29:19-20
  118. The great and abominable church, which is the whore of all the earth, shall be cast down by devouring fire. 29:21
  119. Before the earth shall pass away, Michael, mine archangel, shall sound his trump, and then shall all the dead awake, for their graves shall be opened, and they shall come forth - yea, even all. 29:26
  120. I will say unto them - Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire. 29:28
  121. They that believe not unto eternal damnation. 29:44

  123. Ezra and Northrop ... declare my gospel unto a crooked and perverse generation. 33:1-2

  166. I give unto you a commandment, that ye shall assemble yourselves together to agree upon my word. 41:2

  168. It is meet that my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., should have a house built, in which to live and translate. 41:7
  169. It is meet that my servant Sidney Rigdon should live as seemeth him good. 41:8
  170. I have called my servant Edward Partridge; and I give a commandment, that he should be appointed by the voice of the church, and ordained a bishop. 41:9

  171. Section 42

  172. I give unto you this first commandment, that ye shall ago forth in my name, every one of you, excepting my servants Joseph Smith, Jun., and Sidney Rigdon. 42:4
  173. Go forth ... two by two ... with the sound of a trump. 42:6
  174. The Bible and the Book of Mormon, in the which is the fulness of the gospel. 42:12

  185. Section 43

  186. There is none other [besides Joseph Smith] appointed unto you to receive commandments and revelations. 43:3
  187. This shall be a law unto you, that ye receive not the teachings of any that shall come before you [besides Joseph Smith] as revelations or commandments. 43:5
  188. Appoint ye my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., and uphold him .. provide for him food and raiment, and whatsoever thing he needeth. 43:12-13
  189. The great day of the Lord is nigh at hand. 43:17
  190. the Lord shall utter his voice out of heaven; the heavens shall shake and the earth shall tremble, and the trump of God shall sound both long and loud, and shall say to the sleeping nations: Ye saints arise and live; ye sinners stay and sleep until I shall call again. 43:18
  191. Gird up your loins. 43:19
  192. The cup of the wrath of mine indignation is full. 43:25
  193. In mine own due time will I come. 43:29
  194. The great Millennium ... shall come. 43:30
  195. Satan shall be bound, and when he is loosed again he shall only reign for a little season, and then cometh the end of the earth. 43:31

  197. Section 45

  198. They shall behold blood, and fire, and vapors of smoke. 45:41
  199. Before the day of the Lord shall come, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon be turned into blood, and the stars fall from heaven. 45:42
  200. I will come; and they shall see me in the clouds of heaven, clothed with power and great glory. 45:44
  201. Saints that have slept shall come forth to meet me in the cloud. 45:45
  202. Then shall the arm of the Lord fall upon the nations. 45:47
  203. The Lord set his foot upon this mount, and it shall cleave in twain. 45:48
  204. The Lord shall utter his voice, and all the ends of the earth shall hear it. 45:49
  205. Calamity shall cover the mocker, and the scorner shall be consumed; and they that have watched for iniquity shall be hewn down and cast into the fire. 45:50
  206. Then shall the Jews look upon me and say: What are these wounds in thine hands and in thy feet? 45:51
  207. I will say unto them: These wounds are the wounds with which I was wounded in the house of my friends. I am he who was lifted up. I am Jesus that was crucified. I am the Son of God. 45:52
  208. Then shall they weep because of their iniquities; then shall they lament because they persecuted their king. 45:53
  209. Satan shall be bound. 45:55
  210. At that day, when I shall come in my glory, shall the parable be fulfilled which I spake concerning the ten virgins. 45:56
  211. It shall not be given unto you to know any further concerning this chapter, until the New Testament be translated, and in it all these things shall be made known. 45:60
  212. Go ye forth into the western countries. 45:64
  213. It shall be called the New Jerusalem ... the glory of the Lord shall be there, and the terror of the Lord also shall be there ... and it shall be called Zion. 45:66-67
  214. It shall be said among the wicked: Let us not go up to battle against Zion, for the inhabitants of Zion are terrible. 45:70
  215. When the Lord shall appear he shall be terrible unto them, that fear may seize upon them, and they shall stand afar off and tremble ... Amen. 45:74-75

  216. Section 46

  217. Conduct all meetings as they are directed and guided by the Holy Spirit. 46:2
  218. Ye are commanded never to cast any one out from your public meetings. 46:3
  219. Ye shall not cast any out of your sacrament meetings ... those who are not of the church. 46:5
  220. Seek ye earnestly the best gifts. 46:8
  221. To some it is given to have faith to be healed ... and to others it is given to have faith to heal. 46:19-20
  222. To some is given the working of miracles. 46:21
  223. To others it is given to prophesy. 46:22
  224. To others the discerning of spirits. 46:23
  225. To some to speak with tongues. And to another is given the interpretation of tongues. 46:24-25

  226. Section 49

  227. Sidney, and Parley, and Leman ... I give unto you a commandment that you shall go and preach ... unto the Shakers. 49:1
  228. I am God, and have sent mine Only Begotten Son ... he that receiveth him not shall be damned. 49:5
  229. The Son of Man ... will reign till he descends on the earth to put all enemies under his feet, which time is nigh at hand. but the hour and the day no man knoweth, neither the angels in heaven, nor shall they know until he comes. 49:6-7
  230. All are under sin, except those which I have reserved unto myself, holy men that ye know not of. 49:8
  231. Whoso forbiddeth to marry is not ordained of God. 49:15
  232. He should have one wife. 49:16
  233. The Son of Man cometh not in the form of a woman. 49:22
  234. I am Jesus Christ, and I come quickly. Even so. Amen. 49:28

  235. Section 50

  236. I, the Lord, have looked upon you, and have seen abominations in the church. 50:4
  237. The hypocrites shall be detected and shall be cut off, either in life or in death. 50:8
  238. If you behold a spirit manifested that you cannot understan ... ask of the Father in the name of Jesus; and if he give not unto you that spirit, then you may know that it is not of God. 50:31
  239. It shall be given unto you, power over that spirit; and you shall proclaim against that spirit with a loud voice that it is not of God. 50:32
  240. Blessed are you who are now hearing these words of mine from the mouth of my servant [Joseph Smith]. 50:36
  241. In this thing ... Edward Partridge is not justified. 50:39
  242. The day cometh that you shall hear my voice and see me. 50:45

  243. Section 51

  244. It must needs be that they be organized according to my laws; if otherwise, they will be cut off. 51:2
  245. Edward Partridge ... appoint unto this people their portions, every man equal according to his family, according to his circumstances and his wants and needs. 51:3
  246. Let the bishop ... also reserve unto himself for his own wants, and for the wants of his family. 51:13-14
  247. I am Jesus Christ, who cometh quickly, in an hour you think not. Even so. Amen. 51:20

  248. Section 52

  249. Thus saith the Lord ... in these last days. 52:1
  250. Missouri ... the land which I will consecrate unto my people. 52:2
  251. Joseph Smith, Jun., and Sidney Rigdon ... inasmuch as they are not faithful, they shall be cut off, even as I will, as seemeth me good. 52:3-6
  252. Let them go two by two. 52:10
  253. let my servant Lyman Wight beware, for Satan desireth to sift him as chaff. 52:12
  254. Satan is abroad in the land, and he goeth forth deceiving the nations. 52:14
  255. In consequence of transgression, let that which was bestowed upon Heman Basset be taken from him, and placed upon the head of Simonds Ryder. 52:37
  256. Missouri, which is the land of your inheritance, which is now the land of your enemies. 52:42
  257. I, the Lord, will hasten the city in its time. 52:43

  260. Be patient ... until I come; and, behold, I come quickly ... Amen. 54:10

  262. Mine anger is kindled against the rebellious, and they shall know mine arm and mine indignation, in the day of visitation and of wrath upon the nations. 56:1
  263. He that will not take up his cross and follow me, and keep my commandments, the same shall not be saved. 56:2
  264. He that will not obey shall be cut off in mine own due time. 56:3
  265. I, the Lord, command and revoke, as it seemeth me good; and all this to be answered upon the heads of the rebellious, saith the Lord. 56:4
  266. I revoke the commandment which was given unto my servants Thomas B. Marsh and Ezra Thayre, and give a new commandment unto my servant Thomas, that he shall take up his journey speedily to the land of Missouri, and my servant Selah J. Griffin shall also go with him. 56:5
  267. I revoke the commandment which was given unto my servants Selah J. Griffin and Newel Knight, in consequence of the stiffneckedness of my people which are in Thompson, and their rebellions. 56:6
  268. Ezra Thayre must repent of his pride, and of his selfishness, and obey the former commandment which I have given him. 56:8
  269. Otherwise he shall receive the money which he has paid, and shall leave the place, and shall be cut off out of my church, saith the Lord God of hosts; And though the heaven and the earth pass away, these words shall not pass away. 56:10-11
  270. If my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., must needs pay the money, behold, I, the Lord, will pay it unto him again in the land of Missouri. 56:12
  271. Repent ... because you seek to counsel in your own ways. 56:14
  272. Wo unto you rich men, that will not give your substance to the poor. 56:16
  273. Wo unto you poor men ... whose bellies are not satisfied ... and who will not labor with your own hands! 56:17
  274. And now I make an end of speaking unto you. Even so. Amen. 56:20

  275. Section 57

  276. Hearken, O ye elders of my church, saith the Lord your God, who have assembled yourselves together, according to my commandments, in this land, which is the land of Missouri, which is the land which I have appointed and consecrated for the gathering of the saints. 57:1
  277. This is the land of promise, and the place for the city of Zion. 57:2
  278. Here is wisdom. Behold, the place which is now called Independence is the center place; and a spot for the temple is lying westward, upon a lot which is not far from the courthouse. 57:3
  279. It is wisdom that the land should be purchased by the saints, and also every tract lying westward, even unto the line running directly between Jew and Gentile. 57:4
  280. And also every tract bordering by the prairies, inasmuch as my disciples are enabled to buy lands. Behold, this is wisdom, that they may obtain it for an everlasting inheritance. 57:5
  281. Let my servant Sidney Gilbert ... receive moneys, to be an agent unto the church, to buy land in all the regions round about, inasmuch as can be done in righteousness, and as wisdom shall direct. 57:6
  282. Let my servant Edward Partridge ... divide unto the saints their inheritance. 57:7
  283. Let my servant Sidney Gilbert plant himself in this place, and establish a store, that he may sell goods without fraud, that he may obtain money to buy lands. 57:8
  284. Let my servant Sidney Gilbert obtain a license - behold here is wisdom, and whoso readeth let him understand - that he may send goods also unto the people. 57:9
  285. Let my servant William W. Phelps be planted in this place, and be established as a printer unto the church. 57:11
  286. Behold here is wisdom - let him obtain whatsoever he can obtain in righteousnes. 57:12

  300. I give unto my servant Sidney Rigdon a commandment, that he shall write a description of the land of Zion, and a statement of the will of God, as it shall be made known by the Spirit. 57:50
  301. the Lord willeth that the disciples and the children of men should open their hearts, even to purchase this whole region of country, as soon as time will permit. 57:52
  302. Here is wisdom. Let them do this lest they receive none inheritance, save it be by the shedding of blood. 57:53

  305. They shall also be crowned with blessings from above, yea, and with commandments not a few, and with revelations in their time. 59:4

  307. The beasts of the field, the fowls of the air, things that climb on trees and walk on the earth - they all belong to you. 59:16
  308. All things which come of the earth ... are made for the benefit and the use of man. 59:18
  309. In nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not his hand in all things, and obey not his commandments. Behold, this is according to the law and the prophets; wherefore, trouble me no more concerning this matter. 59:21-22

  311. Section 60

  312. In the day when I shall make up my jewels, all men shall know what it is that bespeaketh the power of God. 60:4
  313. Let there be a craft made, or bought, as seemeth you good, it mattereth not unto me, and take your journey speedily for the place which is called St. Louis. 60:5
  314. From thence let my servants, Sidney Rigdon, Joseph Smith, Jun., and Oliver Cowdery, take their journey for Cincinnati. 60:6
  315. In this place let them lift up their voiceand declare my word with loud voices, without wrath or doubting, lifting up holy hands. 60:7
  316. Let the residue take their journey from St. Louis, two by two, and preach the word, not in haste, among the congregations of the wicked. 60:8
  317. Let my servant Edward Partridge impart of the money which I have given him, a portion unto mine elders. 60:10
  318. they have been sent to preach my gospel among the congregations of the wicked; wherefore, I give unto them a commandment, thus: Thou shalt not idle away thy time. 60:13
  319. After thou hast come up unto the land of Zion ... thou shalt speedily return, proclaiming my word among the congregations of the wicked. 60:14
  320. Shake off the dust of thy feet against those who receive thee not, not in their presence, lest thou provoke them, but in secret; and wash thy feet. 60:15

  322. There are many dangers upon the waters, and more especially hereafter. 61:4
  323. I, the Lord, have decreed in mine anger many destructions upon the waters; yea, and especially upon these waters. 61:5
  324. I, the Lord, in the beginning blessed the waters; in the last days, by the mouth of my servant John, I cursed the waters. 61:14
  325. The days will come that no flesh shall be safe upon the waters. 61:15
  326. I give unto you a commandment ... forewarn your brethren concerning these waters. 61:18
  327. I, the Lord, have decreed, and the destroyer rideth upon the face thereof, and I revoke not the decree. 61:19
  328. Concerning the residue, let them journey and declare the word among the congregations of the wicked ... inasmuch as they do this they shall rid their garments. 61:33-34

  332. I, the Lord, am willing, if any among you desire to ride upon horses, or upon mules, or in chariots. 62:7

  334. The Lord ... destroyeth when he pleases, and is able to cast the soul down to hell. 63:1-4
  335. Let the wicked take heed, and let the rebellious fear and tremble; and let the unbelieving hold their lips, for the day of wrath shall come upon them as a whirlwind, and all flesh shall know that I am God. 63:6

  344. The saints also shall hardly escape; nevertheless, I, the Lord, am with them, and will come down in heaven from the presence of my Father and consume the wicked with unquenchable fire ... this is not yet, but by and by. 63:34-35
  345. I will that my saints should be assembled upon the land of Zion; And that every man should take righteousness in his hands and faithfulness upon his loins. 63:36-37

  358. After today cometh the burning - this is speaking after the manner of the Lord - for verily I say, tomorrow all the proud and they that do wickedly shall be as stubble; and I will burn them up, for I am the Lord of Hosts; and I will not spare any that remain in Babylon. 64:24
  359. Wherefore, if ye believe me, ye will labor while it is called today. 64:25
  360. It is not meet that my servants, Newel K. Whitney and Sidney Gilbert, should sell their store and their possessions here ... until the residue of the church, which remaineth in this place, shall go up unto the land of Zion. 64:26
  361. It is said in my laws, or forbidden, to get in debt to thine enemies. 64:27

  363. The rebellious shall be cut off out of the land of Zion. 64:35

  448. The word of the Lord concerning his church, established in the last days ... for the gathering of his saints to stand upon Mount Zion, which shall be the city of New Jerusalem. Which city shall be built, beginning at the temple lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in the western boundaries of the State of Missouri, and dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith, Jun. 2-3
  449. The city New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which temple shall be reared in this generation. 4

  478. Thus saith the Lord concerning the wars that will shortly come to pass, beginning at the rebellion of South Carolina, which will eventually terminate in the death and misery of many souls. 1
  479. The time will come that war will be poured out upon all nations, beginning at this place. 2
  480. The Southern States shall be divided against the Northern States, and the Southern States will call on other nations, even the nation of Great Britain, as it is called, and they shall also call upon other nations, in order to defend themselves against other nations; and then war shall be poured out upon all nations. 3
  481. The remnants who are left of the land will marshal themselves, and shall become exceedingly angry, and shall vex the Gentiles with a sore vexation. 5
  482. Famine, and plague, and earthquake, and the thunder of heaven, and the fierce and vivid lightning also, shall the inhabitants of the earth be made to feel the wrath, and indignation, and chastening hand of an Almighty God, until the consumption decreed hath made a full end of all nations 6
  483. That the cry of the saints, and of the blood of the saints, shall cease to come up into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, from the earth, to be avenged of their enemies. 7
  484. Stand ye in holy places, and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come; for behold, it cometh quickly, saith the Lord. Amen. 8

  485. Section 88

  486. The alms of your prayers have come up into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, and are recorded in the book ... of the celestial world. 2
  487. I now send upon you another Comforter ... even the Holy Spirit. 3
  488. This Comforter is the promise ... of the celestial kingdom, which glory is that of the church of the Firstborn. 4-5
  489. He that ascended up on high, as also he descended below all things. 6
  490. As also he [the Holy Spirit] is in the sun ... moon ... stars ... and earth. 7-10
  491. The spirit and the body are the soul of man. 15
  492. They who are not sanctified through the law ... must inherit another kingdom, even that of a terrestrial kingdom, or that of a telestial kingdom. 21
  493. He who is not able to abide the law of a celestial kingdom cannot abide a celestial glory. 22

  497. They who are of a celestial spirit shall receive the same body. 28
  498. He who are quickened by a portion of the celestial glory shall then receive of the same. 29

  518. there shall be silence in heaven for the space of half an hour; and immediately after shall the curtain of heaven be unfolded, as a scroll is unfolded after it is rolled up, and the face of the Lord shall be unveiled. 95

  520. They who have slept in their graves shall come forth, for their graves shall be opened; and they also shall be caught up to meet him. 97

  523. Another angel shall sound his trump, which is the seventh angel, saying: It is finished; it is finished! The Lamb of God hath overcome and trodden the wine-press alone, even the wine-press of the fierceness of the wrath of Almighty God. 106
  524. then shall the first angel again sound his trump in the ears of all living, and reveal the secret acts of men, and the mighty works of God in the first thousand years. 108
  525. then shall the second angel sound his trump, and reveal the secret acts of men, and the thoughts and intents of their hearts, and the mighty works of God in the second thousand years. 109
  526. And so on, until the seventh angel shall sound his trump ... and Satan shall be bound, that old serpent, who is called the devil, and shall not be loosed for the space of a thousand years. 110
  527. Then he shall be loosed for a little season, that he may gather together his armies. 111
  528. Michael, the seventh angel, even the archangel, shall gather together his armies, even the hosts of heaven. 112
  529. The hosts of hell, and shall come up to battle against Michael and his armies. 113
  530. The devil and his armies shall be cast away into their own place, that they shall not have power over the saints any more. 114
  531. Cease from all your light speeches, from all laughter, from all your lustful desires, from all your pride and light-mindedness, and from all your wicked doings. 121
  532. Cease to be idle; cease to be unclean ...retire to thy bed early ... arise early. 124
  533. Pray always, that ye may not faint, until I come. Behold, and lo, I will come quickly ... Amen. 125

  534. Section 89

  535. A Word of Wisdom, for ... the saints ... showing forth the order and will of God ... in the last days. 1-2
  536. Inasmuch as any man drinketh wine or strong drink among you, behold it is not good, neither meet in the sight of your Father, only in assembling yourselves together to offer up your sacraments. 5
  537. Strong drinks are not for the belly, but for the washing of your bodies. 7
  538. Tobacco is not for the body, neither for the belly. 8
  539. Hot drinks are not for the body or belly. 9
  540. All wholesome herbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man. 10
  541. All saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones. 18
  542. And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures. 19
  543. And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint. 20
  544. I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen. 21

  545. Section 90

  546. The keys of this kingdom shall never be taken from you [Joseph Smith], while thou art in the world, neither in the world to come. 3
  547. Let there be a place provided, as soon as it is possible, for the family of thy counselor and scribe, even Frederick G. Williams. 19

  554. Man is the tabernacle of God, even temples; and whatsoever temple is defiled, God shall destroy that temple. 35
  555. Now a commandment I give unto you - if you will be delivered you shall set in order your own house. 43
  556. Joseph Smith, Jun. - You have not kept the commandments, and must needs stand rebuked before the Lord. 47
  557. Your family must needs repent and forsake some things, and give more earnest heed unto your sayings, or be removed out of their place. 48

  562. Section 94

  563. Ye shall not suffer any unclean thing to come in unto it; and my glory shall be there, and my presence shall be there. 8
  564. If there shall come into it any unclean thing, my glory shall not be there; and my presence shall not come into it. 9
  565. The second lot on the south shall be dedicated unto me for the building of a house unto me, for the work of the printing of the translation of my scriptures. 10
  566. And now I give unto you no more at this time. Amen. 17

  567. Section 95

  568. Ye must needs be chastened ... for ye have sinned against me a very grievous sin, in that ye have not considered the great commandment ... the building of mine house. 2-3
  569. Prune my vineyard for the last time, that I may bring to pass my strange act, that I may pour out my Spirit upon all flesh. 4
  570. I gave unto you a commandment that you should build a house. 8
  571. Contentions arose in the school of the prophets. 10
  572. You should build a house. If you keep my commandments you shall have power to build it. 11
  573. Here is wisdom, and the mind of the Lord ... let it be built after the manner which I shall show unto three of you, whom ye shall appoint and ordain unto this power ... the size thereof shall be fifty and five feet in width, and let it be sixty-five feet in length. 13-15

  576. Here is wisdom ... this stake ... should be made strong. 1

  580. Section 97

  581. I, the Lord, am well pleased that there should be a school in Zion, and also with my servant Parley P. Pratt. 3
  582. Tt is my will that a house should be built unto me in the land of Zion ... by the tithing of my people. 10-11
  583. Inasmuch as my people build a house unto me in the name of the Lord, and do not suffer any unclean thing to come into it ... my glory shall rest upon it. 15
  584. But if it be defiled I will not come into it, and my glory shall not be there. 17
  585. If Zion do these things she shall prosper, and spread herself and become very glorious, very great, and very terrible. 18
  586. And the nations of the earth shall honor her, and shall say: Surely Zion is the city of our God. 19
  587. Vengeance cometh speedily upon the ungodly. 22
  588. The Lord's scourge ... shall vex all people; yea, it shall not be stayed until the Lord come. 23
  589. Zion shall escape if she observe to do all things whatsoever I have commanded her. But if she observe not to do whatsoever I have commanded her, I will visit her ... with sore affliction, with pestilence, with plague, with sword, with vengeance, with devouring fire. 25-26
  590. Read this once to her ears ... Amen. 27-28
