What did Malachi say would happen before the coming of the day of the Lord?

Elijah would come.

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. Malachi 4:5

God would reveal the priesthood (by the hand of Elijah).

Behold, I will reveal unto you the Priesthood, by the hand of Elijah the prophet, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. D&C 4:1
